1. Do What You Can
We were all born with special gifts, talents, and unique abilities that come natural to us that others may not have but would love for us to share with them. Whatever your gift may be—wether it’s a voice of gold, an excellent ability to cook, a wonderful communicator, or being able to offer comfort to those in need—each and everyone of us has something magnificent within us to give.
“Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” — John Wooden, Basketball Hall of Fame Member as Player and Coach
2. Look Within
In the 1800‘s when Emerson walked this earth he believed that everyone possessed the ability to be self-reliant, be one’s own star, and to trust himself when it came to finding all life’s answers. That same doctrine rings true today. Looking within is essential to finding true inspiration. And as Emerson said:
“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson, Essayist & Poet
3. Let Your Light Shine
After teaching about the Beatitudes on the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus then related the importance of letting “your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (The Bible, Matthew 5:16, ESV)
Simply stated, letting your light shine is about realizing that we all have the power and responsibility within ourselves to live a life of true fulfillment.
“And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other permission to do the same.” — Nelson Mandela, Former President of South Africa
